I am a New York State licensed psychologist and have been helping people to improve their quality of life for over 20 years. I believe that change occurs when life achieves more balance; balance between emotions and rationality, work and play, strength and vulnerability, attention to ourselves and attention to others. There are many reasons why we can become less effective in life--extreme thinking, past experience, trauma-- and therapy can help to find more effective ways of managing problems.
In line with the above philosophy, I am intensively trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) which also values the concept of balance, including that between acceptance and change.
I have a nonjudgemental and interactive style and work with you toward your own established goals. I have extensive experience helping individuals and couples, adolescents and children with a variety of issues including:
- Parent/child conflict
- Academic and learning issues
- Marital conflict
- Eating disorders
- Ineffective coping strategies
- Interpersonal difficulties
- Relationship and family issues
- Transitioning to college and young adulthood
